Data management plans are a required component of many grant proposals to federal funding agencies and, increasingly, private foundations. The IU Libraries’ Scholarly Communication Department offers consultations and assistance with writing data management plans. The Library also provides access to the DMPTool, an online application that guides scholars through the planning process. The Scholarly Communication Department is equipped to work with you to create, review, and implement your data management plan. Our data publishing platform supports long-term preservation and compliance with federal agency guidelines. Below is a video guide to using the DMPTool. In the first section of this video, we walk users through accessing the DMPTool with IU credentials and setting up the proper grant agency/funder information. Next we overview the process of writing a DMP with the special features and guidance provided by this platform. Finally, we show users how to share, download, and send our department a draft of their DMPs for review.
